It's Me, Salish

Hey There,

I’m Salisha, but you can call me Salish! When you meet me, it’s obvious that I am a California girl through and through but my heart is a straight up New Yorker. Nothing on this planet gives me more joy than living in the Urban Jungle.

I work on Broadway in a show called Beautiful the Carole King Musical. I’ve been with this company for years and somehow I still really love it. The music, the vibes in the building, my little corner in the dressing room… I have zero complaints. I started off mounting the First National Tour back in 2015 and hit the road with the show for about a year and 9 nine months. I left the show and worked on (my favorite) Trevor the Musical at The Writers Theater in Glencoe, IL. And from there, a spot opened up in the Broadway company for Beautiful and apparently, it had my name on it. I said yes! God is good. I made my Broadway debut at the Stephen Sondheim theater on October 12, 2017.

I’m here to say this: Life is what we make of it. Our perspective on life will determine how high our highs are and how low our lows are. You know that Law of Attraction? It is so real; that whatever we put out into the Universe, we will get back tenfold. When I count my blessings, it seems like more blessings just keep popping up. And on the contrary, when I’m in a rush or mad at someone, it’s like nothing can go right! It’s horrible!

I don’t have time to compare myself to anyone around me, because honey when I do, it seems like I always come up short. So instead, I’ve decided to just be a flower and bloom. And all the other flowers around me can bloom at their own rate too. And together, we can all just be a beautiful garden of blossoms. Do you hear what I’m saying? Oprah says, that one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is time. It’s the one thing that cannot be replaced and we can’t get it back. So my goal in life is to live each day fully and suck as much joy out of every moment that I possibly can. I love to dress up. I love to laugh. I love to be silly. I am aware that I take up a LOT of space energetically. And so with this knowledge, it is always my goal to fill whatever space I’m in with positivity, love, joy, peace, and optimism.

Give me a microphone, a stage, and an accompanist if there’s one around, and in return I will give you comedy; I will give you hope; I will inspire you; and I will entertain you. Forgive my French, but there is a mighty badass inside of me. And I think there’s one inside of you too. And it’s one of my favorite things to tap into that power and help others tap into there’s. I love speaking to groups of people, especially students. Any questions? Find me on FB or shoot me a message here.

Have fun looking through my new blog. It’s a work in project. Cheers.
